Nine? Are you kidding?

I have decided that enough time has elapsed between this post and my first post so that I don't look too bored; I've actually just sat here and read news since then, but its the principle people.

So I walk into work this morning and step into a lively discussion between two co-workers, who I will call Charlie and Mitch. I have included a crude diagram of below to assist in the storytelling visualization.



Note the tree outside of my window; it is actually much smaller and without any leaves. On to the story. So Charles and Mitch were talking about the bird flu and how it has killed 15 people in Turkey. Naturally I ignored them and busied myself with reading slashdot, but before long I was called over to discuss the issue.

"Its spreading man, I'm gonna go buy some masks," Charlie said.

"People think its not a big deal, but it's been spreading the last couple years; I've been watching it and it's gonna be huge," Mitch then chipped in.

I nodded and grunted in agreement and played audience to the discussion, egging on when necessary.

"You think it could kill a lot of people?" I asked.

"Sure could, did you remember the bird flu back in in like 1914? It killed the Dodge brothers!"

Now I'm not sure who he was talking about, but thats not the point. Here is why I made this post

"Well I'm ready in case sh*t hits the fan," Charlie said, and naturally I asked him what he meant.

"I mean guns, thats gonna be the first thing you need to get!"

At this point I am waiting for him to tell me about his Glock or rifle.

"Yeah I've got nine."

"Nine what?"

"Nine guns, man."

silence..

"Why do you have nine guns Charlie?"

"For protection man, I made the mistake of not having guns once."

1) I imagined him holding nine guns at once, and almost laughed. and 2) I didn't ask him about his mistake.

So I asked him what kind of guns he had, and that I was thinking about getting ONE.

"I've got a couple revolvers, a Glock 357 but I shoot 38 specials out of it, couple rifles, and a shotgun."

"Yeah," I said, "a shotgun would be a pretty good idea maybe, but I would saw off the end!," I joked, smiling to him and Mitch.

"Yeah mines sawed off."

"You know thats illegal right Charlie?"

"You never know when you might need it."

At this point I was completely re-evaluating Charlie and all the times I had talked to him, I can understand having a couple guns but NINE? And he doesn't hunt, because I asked him.

So I kind of shook my head, said "Well I gotta get back guys..", and immediately decided to post the story.

In retrospect, this story may not be as harrowing as I originally thought, but I refuse to not publish it.
